A Leaf Supply Guide to Lockdown

guide to lockdown

There’s no getting around the fact that being confined to our homes is damn hard, so the Leaf Supply team has put together some ideas to help get through what is set to be an extended lockdown period in Sydney. Check out our 4 top tips below with more recommendations to follow in the coming weeks.
We’re here for you and hope our community is staying safe. Look after yourselves and please reach out if you need!

01 connect with nature

There are so many studies that show that maintaining a connection to nature can be so beneficial to our mental well-being. Taking the chance to exercise outside, throwing yourself in the ocean (if you’re lucky enough to be within 10km of it!) and of course tending to your plants are all great ways to do it. Some other planty activities to try:

02 eat (+ drink) your feelings

There are so many amazing small businesses who have pivoted to stay alive during COVID and that means fabulous opportunities to dine on delicious food and drinks in the safety + comfort of your own home.
We’re feasting on:

  • HUMBLE backed goods, pasta and ready to eat meals from PORTENO. Their finger buns are next level!
  • HARVEST BITES Mondaymeals made with love by top chefs with all profits going to charity. Eating for a good cause!
  • incredible pasta from CIAO FABBRICA paired with natural wine from DRNKS. Chin chin.

+ for something a little fancy
Although you can’t currently experience their amazing hospitality in the flesh, one of our fave Enmore eateries Osteria di Russo & Russo are offering incredible takeaway options for pick up and delivery (through deliveroo + ubereats). Don’t miss the chance to dine on this deliciousness in the comfort of your PJs

03 move your body

And after all that indulging we’re getting our bodies moving with some at home exercise! FLUIDFORM pilates has an incredible online platform with heaps of great workouts and stretching sessions. Inner west favourite SCOUT pilates is also running online classes while their beautful studio is closed.

04 curl up with a good book

Pour yourself a cuppa, crawl into bed and dive into a good book!
We’ve got you sorted on the plant book front but here are some of our other literary reccies:

Rootbound: Rewilding a Life by Alice Vincent
Part memoir, part botanical biography, this beautifully written book explores the way bringing a little bit of the outside in can help us find our way when life gets a little out of control.

Phosphorescence by Julia Baird
A stunning exploration into how we can find and nurture the ‘light’ that can sustain us through the dark times. Pretty apt at this time we’d say.

The Well Gardened Mind by Sue Stuart-Smith
A look at the powerful therapeutic qualities of being close to nature focussing on the remarkable effects it can have on our health and mental wellbeing.

For the little ones:

GET ARTY
For kids of all ages Ken Done has a number of education resources for some art inspired play. From colouring to critiquing, there’s an arty activity to keep small hands  busy for hours!
GET DIRTY
Gardening with our little people is one of our fave activities, who doesn’t love to get their hands dirty. Our kids gardening set is perfect to help promote their love of nature!
